Pompeii & Vesuvius Private Tour with Hotel Pick Up

From EUR €190.00
  • Duration: 6 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Roma, Lazio
The Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried in ash during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AC, almost perfectly preserved for centuries until they became possibly the most important archaeological sites of the world. As the cities were suddenly frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption, rather than being gradually abandoned over the centuries or transformed by subsequent conquests, both were preserved in a state of "suspended animation”: houses, temples, baths, brothels, restaurants, and citizens were preserved under the ashes until being unearthed in 1748.

Take a day off and dive into the past to visit these unique and unforgettable spots. Pompeii is a very large site and it is generally believed to be more striking. However, as it was buried under a thicker layer of protective mud and volcanic ash, Herculaneum is much better preserved and it will be impressive to find out that a wide variety of materials, such as wood, were totally sealed and preserved. Choosing this tour, means you will not have to choose between the two sites, and you will start an incredible journey through the past with your knowledgeable private guide.

After your private guided tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum, you will have lunch & time to recharge your batteries a little bit to be ready for the trip up to Mt. Vesuvius. Your guided tour of Mt. Vesuvius begins with the slow uphill trip on the windy road until the parking lot to the crater. Then take a 30-minute Trek to the top, which reaches nearly 4,200 feet. The views and fresh air here are well worth the effort, as well as the impressive view of the Volcano mouth.
