In the Footsteps of Bernini Private Tour

From EUR €36.00
  • Duration: 3 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Roma, Lazio

The works of this incredible sculptor, architect, and painter are spread almost everywhere around Rome. Bernini was an Italian artist and perhaps the greatest sculptor of the 17th century.

He created the Roman Baroque style and developed it to such an extent that other artists are of only minor importance in any discussion of that style. When he died at 82, after having served eight popes, he was widely considered not only Europe’s greatest artist but also one of its greatest men. He was the last of Italy’s remarkable series of universal geniuses, and the Baroque style he helped create was the last Italian style to become an international standard. Set off on a tour with your private guide to discover Bernini’s impressive masterpieces.

Start in the Rione Colonnaan old district where the artist lived, where you will also discover some of his sculptures and appreciate the characteristics of his style. Stroll through the historical center and reach the Barberini Palace, where you will admire the architecture and fountains commissioned by the Barberini family for their headquarter.

Head to the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, where you will admire the Cornaro Chapel with the famous statue of the Ecstasy of St. Teresa.

End your tour in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Bernini’s father, Pietro, was commissioned for some sculptures and reliefs and where Gian Lorenzo, the son, was buried in 1680.
