Like most places in Italy, Venice is indeed known for its traditional food specialities, and a visit to offers an opportunity to discover fascinating gastronomic traditions. Bacaro is the Venetian version of an Italian osteria. This ancient Venetian word was used to define a typical wine bar, where people used to enjoy small appetizers (“cicchetti”) and drink local wines or spritz, perfect for an aperitif.

Your itinerary continues with the Venice Ghetto, an extraordinary history-rich neighborhood. Did you know that this district housed a foundry in Medieval times whose Venetian name was Getto? It was only when the quarter was designated for the Jewish people from the 16th to 19th centuries that the word acquired a whole new meaning.
